ANGELA FALCONI
The Ohio State University ‘23 | $1,000 Sampaguita Scholarship
Angela is junior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health. Since the age of six, her goal has been to become a physician because of her love of science and because she wants to follow in the footsteps of her mother, who is a pediatrician.
Her father, Ron Falconi, is an elected official. He exposed Angela to politics at an early age and brought her to city council meetings, assisted her in successful student government campaigns, and involving her as a volunteer for various campaigns.
She has combined her two parental influences into a pre-med Public Health major and strives to help others on a patient-to-patient basis as a physician while creating meaningful change by implementing health policy in government.
Currently, Angela leads the Pilipino American Association (PAS) at The Ohio State University, as its president. Her organization is hosting the 2023 Midwest Filipino American Summit.
ABBY GABRIEL
Harry S. Truman College ‘26 | $1,000 Sampaguita Scholarship
Abby Gabriel is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Harry S. Truman College. At the age of ten, she moved with her family to Chicago, where she discovered a love of knitting, crocheting, and volunteer work—passions which continue to this day. In addition, throughout high school, Abby was a member of her school band.
Her career goal is to become a registered nurse, earn her own money, and be a self-sufficient. “To be able to provide a life for myself is very important to me.”
